We had a fantastic weekend and everyone commented on what a lovely venue “Abernethy House” was. So much so that I am sure that there will be some repeat bookings out of it.
We are thinking that it will be a great place for a Family Reunion that we would like to have next year.
Thank you for your assistance and you were a pleasure to deal with.

Hi Vicky & Imants,
We found this old pub had been refurbished and turned into a beautiful guest house in Abernethy, Hunter Valley, housing very comfortably, 25 guests It was very convenient to the wineries and one of them came to the house and gave us a special tastings. Lovely old kitchen with modern oven etc, great fire in huge lounge room. I would certainly recommend it to any of my friends or family

Hi Vicky & Imants,
Thank you for your recipe for Sticky Rhubarb – I’ll have to report to you next visit with my results given my very limited cooking application!! But it was delicious.
Thanks again to you and your staff for our very enjoyable weekend at Abernethy House. You combine comfortable, old-world charm with all the creature comforts to make it a perfect location for a “staff weekend” at the vineyards. Add to that the wonderful hot breakfasts to start the day and a great meal on Saturday night. The local wines did their bit too!
All in all a great weekend at a great venue – we’ll be back!

2011 herald our 7th consecutive weekend stay at Abernethy House. This being a wonderful testimony in itself, together, with a tribute to you both for presenting an immaculate venue. During the 7 years we have been more than well looked after. Always a warm and friendly welcome. Yes, we have been spoilt and we thank you!

We hired the whole house out and it was fabulous. Very comfortable rooms with modern touches, a big and cosy lounge room and a courtyard outdoor eating area. The house was well set up for self-catering for a casual weekend away. Thoroughly recommended and likely we will return.

29 of us enjoyed great hospitality, food and surroundings. Vicky and Imants catered for our every need and our meals were fantastic. Very clean and well furnished, great lounge room for a group. We will miss the food when we self cater next time but no doubt the effort put into making our stay very comfortable will not change.

Our extended family had a gathering here (18 people). We booked the property for our exclusive use for the weekend – which was a very good move. Vicky and Imants were amazing – looked after our every need and supplied us with excellent facilities and food – and left us alone to enjoy it when appropriate. We were able to relax, mix and mingle, explore the district, snooze and/or laze in the pool at our discretion. We were thrilled with the weekend – the venue, the personal service and the flexibility. We would recommend the House to any other groups who want a satisfying and relaxing time away.

A wonderful place for a weekend or longer. Lovely owners to whom nothing was too much trouble. We loved sitting in the courtyard with our wine and cheese or in the huge lounge with the log fire going. Our rooms were so comfortable we slept like logs. Very close to the vineyards and wineries. At the Khartoum pub, suggested by Vicky, we had as beautiful a meal as in any Sydney restaurant but far cheaper. We will definitely stay here again and highly recommend it for a lovely, relaxing time.Cost is less than most motels in Cessnock.
