Hunter Valley Gardens

Spanning over 60 acres, be amazed by the sensational sights, colours, and fragrances of the ten stunning feature gardens. Explore each garden one-by-one and enjoy an exciting journey through the thousands of flowers, trees, and shrubs with an air of discovery at every turn.

Bask in a lavish array of colour and scent found in the Rose Garden with more than 8,000 roses on display; laze above the 10 metre waterfall and take in the superb views from the lookout; or step back in time with all our favourite fairytale characters in the Storybook Garden.

The gardens will heighten your senses with a wonderful display of sight, colour and fragrance.

Along the eight kilometres of walking paths are more than six thousand trees, one million ground covers and six hundred thousand shrubs. A floral display featuring a variety of plants and statuary, all of a standard that you won’t see elsewhere in Australia.

Hunter Valley Golf

Only 20 minutes away from Abernethy House, Hunter Valley. Play a round of golf at one of the Hunter Valley’s world class golf courses. Stroll along the green and feel yourself relax as the scents of Wine Country float through the air.

Cypress Lakes Resort, Hunter Valley
Cypress Lakes Resort is a golf sanctuary, nestled amongst the vineyards in the heart of Hunter Valley wine country and surrounded by the beauty of native Australian bushland. Built in the highest hills in the lower Hunter Valley, the championship layout at Cypress Lakes boasts spectacular views over the surrounding vineyards. Completed in 1992, Cypress Lakes has one of Australia’s longest par-5’s (573 metres) a unique dual fairway hole and one of the only holes in Australia where you have to tee off straight over a vineyard.

The Vintage Golf Club
This truly spectacular Greg Norman layout gently winds around undisturbed wetlands, water carries, eucalypts and the Beggars Bridge and Bimbadgen vineyards. The magnificent clubhouse has been designed to integrate with the unique style of the Hunter Valley region. Relax beside the roaring fireplace, and indulge in a glass of local wine.

Please note – some of our national parks, state forests and historic sites are by nature, wilderness areas and we suggest you travel to these areas prepared with appropriate clothing, water, food, footware, maps etc. In some areas, mobile phone reception is not available.
